Enjoy Blue Knob State Park with your Pennsylvania RV Rental

If you’ve never been to Pennsylvania’s Blue Knob State Park, you are missing out on a great camping location.  Blue Knob State Park offers a variety of recreational activities.  Blue Knob State Park has over 6,000 acres of forested mountains and rolling meadows located south of Altoona.  The park is named after the second highest mountain in Pennsylvania with an elevation of 3,146 feet.  The mountains are especially beautiful in the fall when the sugar maple trees become vibrant with red, yellow, and orange colors.

The state park offers picnicking, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hunting, swimming, and backpacking.  In the winter, visitors can enjoy cross country skiing, downhill skiing, and snowmobiling.  Horseback riders will find many designated equestrian trails available.  There are also 18 miles of hiking trails ranging from easy to strenuous.  Experienced backpackers can take on the Lost Turkey Trail. It is a 26-mile hike through state park land, state forest/state game land and private properties.  Overnight camping is allowed on the trail with a permit. Brook trout and other fish varieties can be found in Bob’s Creek and its feeder streams.  During hunting season, there are over 5,000 acres on which to hunt white tail deer, squirrel, turkey and grouse.

The campground offers modern campsites for tents, trailers and even PA RV rentals. Most sites have electric hookups, and some are even located in open field areas for easier maneuvering of a PA RV rental.  There are also a small number of cabins available to rent.

Located just south of Altoona, PA, Freedom RV Rentals provides popup camper rentals, travel trailer rentals, and motor home rentals. Contact us by phone at 814-695-9408 for your rental today
