You’ve made up your mind to do some camping in the greater Pittsburgh area. You’ve even booked your camper from Freedom RV Rentals. But now you’re ready to make a list of things to do while you explore Pittsburgh. While you can find all kinds of events and activities, our crew recommends that you consider a few of our favorites.

Pittsburgh Attractions

1. Point State Park

Now a National Historic Landmark, Point State Park has undergone quite a transformation since first opening in the 1970s. The area was key during the French and Indian War but experienced quite a deterioration into the slums of Pittsburgh during the industrial age. It was reclaimed by the state in the 1970s and transformed into the beautiful park you can visit today. You can enjoy boating, fishing, hiking, biking, and more.

2. Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium

Who doesn’t love a day at the zoo? Check out all the creatures at the Pittsburgh Zoo as well as the PPG Aquarium. You can enjoy up-close encounters with domestic and exotic animals of both the land and sea. They have great events that the whole family can enjoy as well as rotating exhibits throughout the year.

3. Carnegie Museum of Natural History

Looking for an indoor activity that engages the mind and expands your cultural understanding? The Carnegie Museum of Natural History is one of our favorite Pittsburgh attractions because of its interactive exhibits featuring ancient traditions, dinosaur fossils, precious gems, and more.

Even if you’re only in Pittsburgh for a day on your way to a Pennsylvania state park, be sure to check out one or more of these fun local attractions.
